Next Municipal Election
The March 31, 2020 General Municipal Election has been CANCELED. Jeffrey Keller, candidate for Seat # 3 has withdrawn.
The City of Westlake will hold a General Municipal Election on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 (independent of the Presidential Preference Primary Election on March 17, 2020), and a Run-off Election, if necessary, on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, for the purpose of electing City Council Seat 3 for a term of four years. Qualifying ended at noon on March 6, 2020. City elections are by seat, at-large, and non-partisan (no districts, no party affiliation).

Presidential Preference Primary Election
The Presidential Preference Primary Election is scheduled for March 17, 2020.

POLL HOURS: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Early Voting
Early Voting allows you the opportunity to cast your vote when and where it is convenient for you. The Early Voting locations we select in Palm Beach County are chosen with you, the voter, in mind, while remaining in compliance with Florida law.
Early Voting will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 through Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. When available, early voting sites and their hours of operation will be listed.
What to Bring to the Voting Site
Please bring one or two forms of valid and current identification that include your signature and photo.
Acceptable Photo ID Florida Voters:
- Florida Driver License
- Florida ID Card (Issued by DHSMV)
- U.S. Passport
- Debit or Credit Card
- Military ID
- Student ID
- Retirement Center ID
- Neighborhood Association ID
- Public Assistance ID
- Veteran Health ID (Issued by VA)
- Concealed Weapon License (issued pursuant to F.S. 790.06)
- Government Employee ID
If your photo ID does not include your signature, you will be asked to provide another ID that has your signature. If you do not bring your ID, you may still vote, however, you will be required to vote a provisional ballot, which will later be evaluated by a canvassing board for eligibility.
Municipal Candidate Qualifying
Candidate Eligibility
Each Candidate for the Office of City Council must be a registered voter in the State of Florida and a resident of the City. At the time of qualification, each candidate for mayor or a council seat must have resided within the boundaries of the City for one (1) year before qualifying and must maintain residency throughout the term of office.
Qualifying Period - Timeframe to submit required paperwork to declare candidacy
Candidate qualifying will be held from NOON on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 to NOON on Friday, March 6, 2020.
Beginning December 31st, candidate packets will be made available online, electronically on a flash drive and/or as a hard copy. You may contact the City Clerk prior to the above qualifying dates to schedule an appointment for an orientation meeting during this time period. New Candidates should plan for at least 1 hour to meet with the City Clerk to go over the Packet and required forms.
PLEASE NOTE: The above dates and times are strict and present no exceptions.
State Assessment Fee
The Assessment Fee is 1.0% of the annual salary for the position, with a check drawn on the Campaign Depository.
This fee $120.00
Voter Registration
The Voter Registration Books Municipal Election will close on February 18, 2020. If If you are not already registered to vote in Florida, eligible individuals can register to vote at any time, prior to this date. Your residential address on file at our office determines the issues and candidates that will be on your ballot.
Your party affiliation determines which candidates will be on your ballot during Primary Elections. Florida is a closed primary state, which means that you must be registered with a political party to vote in that party's Primary Election. You may change your party affiliation at any time, but it must be done 29 days before a Primary Election to be valid for that election.

Vote-by-Mail Ballot
Vote-by-Mail refers to voting a ballot received by mail or picked up by or for a voter instead of going to the polls to vote during Early Voting or Election Day. Any registered voter can vote by mail. You can request a Vote-by-Mail ballot for a specific election or for all elections through the next two General Elections. After two General Elections, you'll need to make the request again.
The deadline to request that a vote-by-mail ballot be mailed for the Presidential Preference Primary Election on March 17, 2020, is no later than 5 p.m. on March 11, 2020. Otherwise, a vote-by-mail ballot can be picked-up at the Supervisor of Elections office until and including on Election Day.
