City of Westlake Hosts Inaugural 5K Run/Walk

CITY OF WESTLAKE HOSTS INAUGURAL 5K RUN/WALK 
PROMOTING COMMUNITY WELLNESS & CAMARADERIE
Saturday, March 16 at 6:30 a.m.

WESTLAKE, FLORIDA (March 7, 2024) – Lace up your sneakers and join the City of Westlake for the inaugural Westlake 5K Run/Walk starting at Westlake Adventure Park, 16610 Town Center Parkway, on Saturday, March 16 at 6:30 a.m.  Set against the backdrop of one of Palm Beach County’s newest cities, participants will traverse a scenic route through the picturesque landscapes that define the charm of Westlake.

“We’re thrilled to kick off the first annual Westlake 5K Run/Walk, celebrating our community’s commitment to promoting physical fitness, well-being, and the spirit of togetherness,” said Julian Martinez, City Councilmember and driving force behind the 5K.  “This event underscores our dedication to fostering friendships and strengthening bonds within our diverse population.”

Any proceeds from the event (over costs and operational expenses) will benefit a Westlake school to be determined by the City Council.

The family-friendly Westlake 5K is open to participants of all ages and fitness levels.  The meticulously designed course offers a flat and fast track, ensuring an enjoyable race for seasoned runners and first-time participants alike.  The first 150 registrants will receive a shirt and custom finisher medal to commemorate their achievement.  The first 100 registrants will also receive a swag bag.  Early registration is encouraged.

Advance registration is $39.50 per person through March 15 at City of Westlake 5K Run/Walk (active.com).  Same-day onsite registration is $45.

Festivities will include music, entertainment, dancing with DJ Petey, and an awards ceremony following the race.

Race packages can be picked up in advance on Friday, March 15 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Fit 2 Run at the Mall at Wellington Green, 10300 Forest Hill Boulevard.  Race packets may be picked up in advance for friends or family with a digital copy of their I.D. Alternatively, packets can be picked up on race day at the start/finish line starting at 6:15 a.m.
