Dispose of Tires Properly in Palm Beach County
It’s important for everyone to put their waste in the proper place. Tires are no exception.
For residents living in unincorporated Palm Beach County, up to two tires, off the rim, are collected curbside, per year for FREE, on their bulk collection day. Residents who live in one of Palm Beach County’s 39 municipalities should contact their municipality directly for their curbside tire collection rules. A list of municipal contacts can be found online.
Any county resident may take old tires to the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County’s Customer Convenience Drop-off Center at the landfill, 6330 N. Jog Road in West Palm Beach. There will be a disposal charge at this location.
- Whole passenger tires or whole truck tires without rims will be charged the “tire” rate of $100/ton or $10/cubic yard.
- Tires with rims, large tires and all others will be charged the higher rate of $190/ton or $21.38/cubic yard.
- Passenger tires, including tractor trailer tires, cut into eight or more substantially equal pieces or oversized/off-road tires shredded to less than 4” x 4” x 2” pieces will be charged $10/ton or $2.65/cubic yard.
Details on the 2023 Tip Fee Schedule are available online.
NOTE: There are specific laws that commercial businesses have to follow. If you are a business looking to dispose of tires, call SWA Customer Service at 561-697-2700 for your disposal options.
In Palm Beach County, 1.8 million tons of trash is combusted each year. This effort reduces the volume of the waste that goes into the landfill by up to 90 percent and produces enough electricity each year to power the many industrial facilities on N. Jog Road and another estimated 90,000 homes. This is important as it extends the life of our landfill.

The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County is a Dependent Special District that was created by the Florida Legislature in 1975. Since then, the SWA has developed an award-winning integrated solid waste management system to handle the county’s waste and recyclables. We call ourselves AWAY: whether you throw it, recycle it or flush it AWAY, we put your waste to work. Each year, we:
- Process more than 100,000 tons of recyclables each year
- Combust approximately 1.8 million tons of trash each year to generate electricity at renewable energy facilities
- Produce enough electricity to power approximately 74,000 homes, about the number of homes in Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens
- Recycle more than 150,000 tons of wastewater treatment residuals (sludge from flushes) into environmentally-friendly fertilizer
- Safely dispose of almost 4.9 million pounds of home hazards a year
- Collect water off of the roofs of Renewable Energy Facility 2 and store it in a 2 million gallon cistern, which is used as part of the energy making process
