Gary Werner, Councilman

Gary Werner is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Planning. He also earned: 1) a Certificate of Environmental Planning from San Francisco State University; and 2) a Certificate in Business Accounting from the College of The Desert.  

Gary retired from a 45-year career as a City Planner, Chief Building Official, and Economic Development/Redevelopment Director for several California cities; he served as Planning Director for the Cities of La Canada Flintridge, La Habra Heights and Big Bear Lake, all newly incorporated cities; and he led the incorporation effort of the City of Diamond Bar where he also served three terms as Councilman and Mayor. 

Gary was born in Cleveland, Ohio where he graduated from Cleveland Heights High School. He and his wife Marla, a Registered Nurse, both retired in 2022 and moved to the Cresswind Community of Westlake.
