Message from Mayor Manning - Coronavirus Update

Dear Westlake Residents:

I write this message with the same concerns as many, including my fellow Council Members regarding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic.

The City is taking any and all necessary precautions to minimize health risks, as well as productively and adequately move forward during these uncertain times.

The City Council has not placed any restrictions on your normal day-to-day activities; however, we continue to work with local and state agencies in determining the best course of action in the coming days and weeks, if necessary.

Additional actions and updates for the City include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Site visits to local restaurants to identify and encourage that the precautionary measures as recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as, Executive Order of the Governor are either in place or anticipated to be implemented as soon as possible.
  • Contact with the HOA and amenity center have been made to ensure necessary sanitation and provisions to encourage social distancing.
  • To maintain continuity of government, alternative options beyond canceling City Council meetings all together, are being explored.
  • Palm Beach County Fire Rescue is prepared for response and had taken early action to develop procedures for dispatch and emergency personnel for proper intake and response.  Fire Rescue is also making sure proper inventory and medical supplies are available and that the necessary precautions to protect themselves and the public are available.
  • Staff has reached out to Wellington Regional Medical Center to coordinate any necessary efforts and resources for the ER at Westlake.

At this time, City Hall services remain available as normal and we strive to take the necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of our visitors and employees. PLEASE be vigilant and courteous when visiting City Hall.  If you are not feeling well, remain home and contact your medical provider.

We continue to monitor and take guidance from the Palm Beach County Division of Emergency Management, as well as both the local and state health departments and any directives provided by our Federal or State Government.

Information as it becomes available is being posted to the City of Westlake website and additional resources may be found below.

While it is a stressful time, please remain positive.  We are fortunate to be a part of a smaller community.  Practice self-care and please look out for your neighbors especially those most vulnerable. We will get through this together.

Please be kind to one another and stay safe and healthy.

Mayor Roger Manning
